Sepir Hospital has Discharged its Duty to the Nation
During the Second World War Iran was considered as a strategic country for the
warring sides and of course the strategic position of Iran did not benefit the
country. On the contrary our country was exposed to serious dangers and our
nation suffered from deadly contagious diseases. Due to lack of health faculties
to prevent the spread of contagious diseases we lost many people south of Tehran
who had contracted typhoid. During that time a number of Iranian generous and
noble Jewish doctors and elite set up the Dr. Sepir Clinic at Oodeljan District
which was the traditional district of Jewish settlers in Tehran. Actually the
clinic was set up inside Molla Hanina Synagogue at that District.
In keeping with the holy commandment of the Torah which says, “love your kind in
the same way as you love yourself” these God-loving and generous people set up
the clinic and improved the clinic from generation to generation to the extent
that no hospital can be found in Tehran better equipped and prettier than the
Sepir Hospital. For the founders, management, doctors and the personnel of Sepir
Hospital curing sick people (of other faiths) was far important than serving
their own brothers and sisters.
Among the kind Jews Dr. Rouhollah Sepir was one of the generous doctors in love
with humanity who converted one of the rooms of the Jewish Synagogue into a
clinic. Gradually and in the course of time the hospital founders purchased the
neighboring houses around the Synagogue and enlarged the hospital to its present
size.
During the ensuing years thanks to the generous Iranian Jewish citizens and
hospital staff Sepir Hospital continued its generous service to the inhabitants
of the capital and during sensitive years such as the turbulent days that led to
the victory of Islamic Revolution and eight years of sacred defense and other
emergency conditions the Hospital was foremost among other hospitals to serve
the noble Iranian nation.
On the occasion of the anniversary of establishment of Sepir Hospital which
coincided with the 32nd anniversary of victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran the
following lectures were delivered by several Jewish doctors at Sepir Hospital in
a ceremony that was held to mark the event.
The ceremony was attended by the head of the Tehran Jewish Association, the
treasurer and cultural officials of the Association, the representative of the
Iranian Jews in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the manager and doctors and
other personnel of Sepir Hospital.
