Institute of Interreligious Dialogue Dec 2006 On the occasion of "Hanukah" Department of Youth of IID (Institute of Interreligious Dialogue) held a Cultural Event Hanukah is the annual Jewish festival celebrated on eight successive days beginning on the 25th day of Kislev, the third month of the Jewish calendar, corresponding, approximately, to December in the Gregorian calendar. It is also known as the Festival of Lights, Feast of Dedication, and Feast of the Maccabees, Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of the Temple of Jerusalem by Judas Maccabee in 165 BC after the Temple had been profaned by Antiochus IV Epiphanes, king of Syria and overlord of Palestine. On the Occasion of celebrating Hanukkah, department of IID (Institute for Interreligious Dialogue), held a cultural event on Friday 22 Dec.2006. Mr Arash Abaie, religious lecturer, presented a historical report about this feast. In this ceremony some Islamic researchers from Qom had participated as well. The
ceremony continued with some Hebrew folklore music and tradition performance.
