A commemoration service was held in Tehran last week
for late founder of the Elderly Jewish Folks House, late Mr. Gad Na'iem at that
center's Gatherings Hall.
Present at the commemoration service there were a number of the Board of
Governors members of the Tehran Jewish Community Association, the Board of
Trustees of the Elderly Jewish Folks House, a group of officials from the
Welfare Organization of the country and some other social activists of the
Jewish community. The Head of the Board of Trustees of the Elderly Jewish Folks
House Manouchehr Sarfaraz in an address referred to a brief history of the
establishment of the Elderly House, saying, "Although there have been
difficulties and hardships in the way of establishing this elderly house, it has
fortunately been turned into a scientific, well equipped complex in accordance
with the standards of the country's Welfare Organization.
He informed the audience that the Elderly Jewish folks House is a complete
system today, arguing that these successes are the fruits of the selfless
efforts made by late Mr. Na'eim.
Sarfaraz also referred to the round-the-clock activities of the personnel of the
center, adding, "In addition to a hard working and qualified personnel, this
complex has very competent and top managers and these two factors have helped us
in reaching a satisfactory level of performance."
The next speakers at the commemoration service included Dr. Beiza'ie, Engineer
Baqeri, Dr. Rahmatollah Rafi'a, Dr. Manouchehr Elyasi, and ladies Rafi'a,
Tavakkoli, Davarpanah, and Poratian, who each elaborated on the fine personality
traits and niceties of the late Mr. Na'eim, narrating memories of him and
reciting poems in his remembrance, thus commemorating that late personality.
At the commemoration service also the representative of the country's Jewish
community at the Islamic Parliament of Iran Dr. Morrah Sedq said that the
absence of the late Mr. Gad Na'eim is a great loss for the Iranian Jewish
community.
On the sideline of the commemoration service a Plate of Honor in Remembrance of
Gad Na'eim was unveiled at Na'eim Park.
The plate reads: "In the name of God; to appreciate the valuable services and
the extraordinary hardships endured by the late Mr. Gad Na'eim at the service of
wellbeing of the elderly folks, this part of the park will be named after him.
May he live in peace in the Hereafter, and his name be always remembered with
respect."
Among the other programs on the sidelines of the commemoration service we can
refer to the visit of the audience of the new half finished building of the
Elderly Jewish Folks House, located behind the Synagogue, and the ground braking
ceremony for the construction of flat apartments for the old couples and the old
single individuals who are either financially not well off, or suffer from
loneliness. The pickax of the ceremony was hit jointly by Dr. Rafi'a and Mr.
Kohan.
